Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing Presents: 2007 Direct Marketer of the Year Award to:

Jeffrey W. Hayzlett

Chief Business Development Officer and Vice President,
Eastman Kodak Company

Jeff Hayzlett will be presented with the prestigious 2007 Taylor Institute Direct Marketer of the Year Award at the INTERACTION 2008 conference and will also be the events’ seminal Keynote Speaker.  Mr. Hayzlett will present concepts that shaped the “New Kodak Way”; the pivotal brand transformation strategy that bridged Kodak from a 21st-century product into a 21st-century brand experience.

With nearly 25 years of international marketing, sales, and customer relations management experience, Mr. Hayzlett joined Eastman Kodak in April 2006 and has been at the helm of the sea change of their product line and brand positioning.  At Interaction 2008, Hayzlett will profile how the Internet has changed the face of marketing as consumers moved from film cameras to digital cameras, from development costs to free viewing of digital images and relatively inexpensive photo printing, from photos contained in albums on the shelf to photos zooming across the Internet to be shared by a potentially infinite audience.

In addition to advancing Kodak’s brand relevancy in an ever-changing media universe, Hayzlett is currently a member of the board of directors of the Business Marketing Association (BMA), the Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF) and is on the advisory board of the CMO Council.  In addition to the Taylor Institute’s Direct Marketer of the Year Aware, Mr. Hayzlett has received numerous top marketing awards and honors including the global Frost & Sullivan Lifetime Achievement Award for marketing achievement and was recently named by B2B Magazine as a Top 10 Business to Business Marketer in the world.

Interaction 2008 attendees might also recognize Hayzlett from his appearance on NBC’s "The Celebrity Apprentice" with Donald Trump.  In that season, celebrity contestants, including rock icon Gene Simmons, had been tasked with creating a new advertising slogan for the Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-In-One Printer.

The series’ watershed moment included Hayzlett going virtually head to head with Simmons in a debate over the winning slogan — which lead to Simmons leaving the show.   Head-butting aside, Hayzlett noted the show’s impact, "It's a great way for Kodak to change its message and delivery," says Hayzlett. "We're having some fun. We've got a couple more things up our sleeve that are fairly aggressive."
